Worst ever songs to have stuck in your head

At the moment I have two: Joelene by Dolly Parton and It's the Hard Knock Life from the Annie soundtrack.

Am stuck in inner audio hell.

Oh GOD you are evil! That Annie song.. how often does that somehow find it's way into one's skull?

I'm gonna have to play some serious music to get rid of that.. ;)

oh bugger, bugger, bugger. And what snoskred said....you do know those things are contagious, don't you?

Sorry dears, didn't mean to be so cruel.

I thought if I looked up the lyrics to Jolene it might cure me. It hasn't and they are so tragic that now I feel like going to Nashville to find the trollop with the "flaming locks of auburn hair...ivory skin and eyes of emerald green" and a smilie like "a breath of spring" so that Dolly can keep her man.

Disclaimer - I actually hate country and western music.

Aah, so I'm not the only blogger who gets in trouble for posting songs that get stuck in other peoples heads. Good to know.

The song most often stuck in my head recently is "They're digging a hole in the road" from my son's Playschool CD. I think I can safely say that because no one else is likely to know how it goes.

My parents' house in Nashville is currently vacant if you need somewhere to stay while you're there.

I just say your blog - Aha snoskred, Aha indeed.

Thanks for the offer I'm not Craig. If my need to avenge Dolly continues I will let you know.

And I even saw the blog too.

One reason not to post at 455 in the morning when you can't sleep, you often can't spell either.

if you can find it you should listen to the Sisters of Mercy cover of Jolene [you may be able to find these on Acquisition]. It's a great version of a great song.[the White Stripes version is more a cover of Sisters version than Dolly's]. I think Dolly is a genius, using very old and traditional music. Songs like Silver Dagger are really dark. Maybe not Islands in the Stream.

I once had the theme from the Love Boat in my head for 6 months. no redeeming features there.

I get stupid shite stuck in my head. Like the Cheesecake Shop jingle (munchin' on a cheesecake, munchin' on a chesecake...mahhh!)

Oh dear. I can't believe you're dissing Dolly like that. Jolene is a marvellous song.

For earworm problems, I use and recommend the theme from The Wombles. Nothing can withstand it. Can't remember where I picked that up from, and have a feeling I should be crediting someone.

Thanks obtuse-a. I will check it out.

And redcap I know what you mean. I dated a boy once who used to sing the Pick-a-part theme to me as "our song" and it drove me nuts.

And zoe, I like the term "earworm" very very much. I will be appropriating that if yo don't mind. And I will try your suggestion.
