And in startling news just to hand

The Age is reporting that real estate agents are still underquoting.

This is almost as astonishing as the reports in The Age earlier the week that pregnant women suffer discrimination at work and that "Babies still put a bump in women's career paths."

What next? Stories that tell us "Aboriginal people are discriminated against", "Shane Warne is not monogamous" or "Many Australians are actually racist."

Anytime.

Another great surprise - Peter Cosgrave has said that Australia will ultimately be a terrorist target.

the underquoting thing is horrible! I'm in the market at the moment and I get so excited when I see something online in my price range but when I turn up to the place and look around I realise that there is no way in hell that it's going to go for a price anywhere near the quote. It's depressing!

they've always done that. you've always had to add 30K+ for a realistic auction sale price. and you know while they are underquoting to buyers, they are overquoting to vendors. because agents are arseholes.

Underquoting doesn't happen much in Hobart. But then, you can still buy a house here for the same amount as the gaps between underquote and actual price!

Does mean you have to live in Hobart though....

Ms Batville,

I suspect you're missing the obvious realities of our society, as taught to us by Current Affairs programs.

I think you'll find:

1. Pregnant women ONLY HAVE THEMSELVES TO BLAME, they didn't have to get pregnant and after all, surely the sheilas love a bit of a belly rub from their red, puffy-faced overbearing boss, particularly when coupled with the delightful query, "Up the duff, areya?"

2. Those selfish careerists. Anyone who wants a baby should understand that there is no such thing as a career unless you are some kind of radical marxist feminist psychopath happy to leave her kids in the care of Charles Manson*.

3. Indigenous Australians aren't discriminated against, they're just mollycoddled by all those bleeding-heart leftists.

4. Shane Warne is a LIVING LEGEND. You diss him at your peril (especially in country pubs) and there'll be time for more name calling AFTER HE BECOMES LESS VALUABLE TO US AS A SPORTSMAN (at which point we will "turn" on him, like we turned on Kieran Perkins).

5. Australians aren't racist. They're "security conscious". Hence the enormous popularity of 'Border Security'.

* Like me. Although I wasn't able to afford the services of Charles Manson himself, it's clearly the kind of thing I would do.

It's Grant Bowler is the reason for the enormous popularity of Border Security :) Remember the Mole? Ladies have loved him ever since then.. Him, and the plane footage.. nothing better than watching planes!

Or, it is actually a large amount of people trying to work out how to get their baggies to Bali without getting busted like whatever that S chick's name was?

ha ha ha ha ha.

Grant Bowler.

I had forgotten the Bowler. Obviously in future years young un's will look back on him and recognise him for the Austrayan icon he really was.

(And gigglewick - congrats on the new job. Damn blogger still won't let me leave comments on your very excellent site. Maybe one day...)
